| | | Re: Steel toed walking boots i too have a decent pair of chainsaw boots - mine are stihl - however these are too heavy for walking long distances and too hot to wear during summer mowing etc.
the search for a decent but affordable walking boot/toe tector continues....

Just browsing this thread, and don't wear boots enough to give an opinion, but, can't you get nylon toecapped boots now. ? much much lighter, but perhaps your work rules and regs won't allow them.
Max.
P.S. Wish I'd have known you had a chainsaw license, we could have had the rest of the tree down.

P.S. Wish I'd have known you had a chainsaw license, we could have had the rest of the tree down. | you can - but the problem is still with them being work boots rather than walking boots and thus as they are meant for the factory/warehouse floor they dont stand up too well to the rigours of the countryside.
if you want your tree felled i'd be happy to come do it gratis - well for the wood. i'm in the reading area quite frequently, pm me.

| | | Re: Steel toed walking boots sorry if my reply sounds a bit matter of fact, but why dont you just wear capped wellies, when your working in boggy sodden ground and keep a pair of trainers in your heated office? |

no - lace up boots are a must , i currently use doc toe tectors but get only about 6 months wear out of them before the stiching on the sole starts to degrade hence the desire to find a walking boot with steel caps

| | | Re: Steel toed walking boots ya big nancy, lol, prior ta gettin sick, i worked on farms cutting cauli n cabbage all winter. all my working life, and i never measured how far we walk but wes on our feet n moving every daylight hour from october to march. And any guy that turn up in fancy hundred quid hiking boots get laughed out the field. lol, i bet your oilers have to be gortex anawl right?
I got a brookes catalogue here: Brookes UK > Home Page and they got a pair of gortex lined caterpillars all bells n whistles for £115. break my heart to spend half that on boots. they got some regatta and dickies waterproof ones in there too, tho any leather boot aint gonna last long in wet.
best thing in there is a sort of rubber rigger boot at 23 quid |

| | | Re: Steel toed walking boots working in one field however hard work (and i appreciate how hard it can be having spent several seasons beeting - wearing wellies ) isnt quite the same as walking up hill and down dale carrying a brushcutter or steering an alan scythe.
you wouldnt catch me spending 115 notes on boots either (except for chainsaw ppe which can be that much easily) hence the search for a decent pair of walking toetectors at a reasonable price
