| | | Campsite in Dorset? We have been camping in and around dorset for many years but have mainly gone to one particular site.I was wondering if anybody can recommend a good campsite near Kimmeridge in dorset, as flat as possible would be great if it`s possible?!!The other things that essential are showers and toilets (young kids),We have looked at the campsite at Lulworth but it looked far too commercial for us and was a bit on the pricey side.
Thanks in advance

| | | Re: Campsite in Dorset? Hi KML, i often camp at Burnbake Campsite near Studland, Isle of Purbeck. It's not very close to Kimmeridge i'm affraid, but may be one for the future.
Glo-worms, Nightjars, Deer, Reptiles, Hobbies etc can all be seen from site & there are some excellent heath reserves just a stones throw too.
There are showers and a small shop + you can also hire a picnic bench(bonus).
Bare in mind it does get busy during Bank Holiday weekends, so booking would be advised.

| | | Re: Campsite in Dorset? Thanks for the reply`s. I will check that website out nightshade. We haven`t camped on that site wildmanofthewoods the wildlife there sounds amazing so we`ll definatley go for a weekend. The site we normally go to is in swanage but thought we would try Kimmeridge as we have found that swanage can get quite roudy in the evening (by the quay) spoiling it for the kids. |

try Birchwood in cold harbour, wareham, its flat and too has great wildlife around it on the heath. also Toms field at langton matravers, a bit thin on amenities but just so quiet and full of outdoors people. if you want inland go to inside park near blandford set in a valley its safe to lets the kids roam free in the woods all day. enjoy |

We used to camp at Toms field when I was a nipper!
Camped here a few years ago and it was OK, the only noise was the Swanage railway but I can live with that. DORSET CAMP SITE, CORFE CASTLE, PURBECK. WOODYHYDE CAMP SITE |

| | | Re: Campsite in Dorset? We normally stay at Herston Yard campsite,it`s nice and only a short walk (10-15 mins) from the town.Toms field is where my Mum used to base her walks from but I haven`t stayed there since I was tiny. Will have to try those sites out.
That does look a nice site Stewy we have passed it many times but never camped there.
Hoping the nice weather is going to last so we can get camping again!!
Thanks again
