| | | human remains found in tent BBC NEWS | UK | Scotland | Glasgow, Lanarkshire and West | Human remains discovered in tent
This has saddened me that someone would be outhere that long without being missed, unless nobody Knew they were going there. I know it's been said a thousand times before but just let people Know what your doing.

| | | Re: human remains found in tent I agree entirely with you Ian to let people know where you are going and expected time back or arrange for contact to be made if staying out, the hills and mountains up here a notorious for fast weather changes and getting stuck now someone somewhere will probably being reminded is it my partner or child thats been found,

| | | Re: human remains found in tent The problem comes when you live on your own like me. I have no one I know that lives anywhere near me, plus I never really know where I am going at any given time. I start off on a journey then news of a rare bird comes up and I change route.
I suspect there are a lot of people like me where it is not possible to let anyone know what you are doing, where you are going and when you will be back. If I don't know what chance has anyone of knowing.

On the other hand, there's a chance that he/she actually wanted to go that way - unattended and without fuss? |

John | During the 11 years that I lived alone and before the advent of mobile phones I got into the habit of speaking by phone to my mother most days. Certainly while on holiday I had to check in with her every 24 hours. It was no disadvantage in those days as it meant an evening trip to the pub or bar to use the phone!!!
Also I was in a car - tho it has been parked in some out of the way places. I used to leave a card in the car (not on view) saying where I intended to go that day.
These days I have to phone my mother everyday to make sure she is ok! My doesn't the world turn! And when she forgets to put the phone back properly and I get a disengaged tone for ages I then have to get in the car and go down and find out why - and usually tell her off for causing me to worry........ my doesn't it go round and come around.............

That is what I was thinking, Paul.
It would be awful if that person was sick or had an accident and was too poorly to go for help when it was needed, but if that person didn't want to be found then there are certainly worse places to pass over than in woodland. |

| | | Re: human remains found in tent I think because it mentioned the West Highland Way people have visions of a wilderness and that he may have been irisponsible(sp),but the area is not that remote and thousands of people walk the Way every year he's probably just cut of the beaten track too pitch for the night somewhere out of the way and quiet ,and the fact the no ones missed him for several years he most likely had no one to tell. | | | | | Thread Tools | | | | Display Modes | Linear Mode |
