| | | Campsites/pubs near Aviemore It's been a little while since I last visited WAB so it's nice to have some free time to catch up with the forums again.
I'm planning a trip to Scotland with someone who isn't quite as interested in wildlife as me, so does anyone know of a dog-friendly campsite in the Aviemore area which also happens to be within walking distance of a pub?

| | | Re: Campsites/pubs near Aviemore This is my favourite camp site, near Aviemore. Set in the forest, with little glades for tent pitches, and with a river running through it, it is the most peaceful camp site I have visited (twice now), though it should be borne in mind that both my stays were in September or October. To top it all, it has probably the best campers' shower block in the whole world: on arrival you pay a deposit for a swipe card, which gives you access to the shower block. Within the block there are several private, lockable rooms, each containing a shower, sink and toilet, which are spotlessly clean.
I've just checked their web site, and it says that, as of October 2007 they are under new management, but hopefully that hasn't had any detrimental effect. It's not very near a pub, but is within a healthy yomp of Aviemore.
Please do not tell anyone about this camp site.
EDIT: Have just noticed that their site says that dogs aren't allowed in the camping area -- sorry.

| | | Re: Campsites/pubs near Aviemore Thank you all for the great ideas. I settled for the Glenmore site by loch Morlich in the end, even though it wasn't near a pub. I got back yesterday having had a fantastic time in the snow. I also saw my first Pine Marten while I was there.
