Cycling with Children in N.England

I have 2 children who are keen to do a bit of cycling. Looking for anybody's suggestions for relatively traffic free, relatively flat rides (probably no more than 10 miles) within a 2 hour radius of Lancaster.

From Lancaster there is the Lune Estuary path. Going south along this takes you to Glasson Dock. Going north from Lancaster will take you to the Crook O' Lune....It is a multi functional path but a pleasure to ride along. Also consider the canal towpath from Lancaster to Carnforth or the cycle track to Morecambe.
