With this particular species tend to find that the best time to see it at the breeding site is when they are ovipositing so August time, otherwise they range far and wide and can be quite elusive. You can also see Aeshna juncea, the azure hawker on the banks of Loch Maree, look for relatively flat and rocky ground with shallow bog pools and Racomitrium moss, its a hummocky grey moss on heathland. hi chris, the mountains u mensioned are all great climbs,Liathach and An Teallach are probaly the most difficult one's alligain is a great day out and slioch and ben eaigh are as well
