| | | Edenbridge A long shot maybe but does anyone live or know Edenbridge (on the Kent/Sussex/Surrey border) and if so, can they suggest any places to walk (with or without the dog)? :-)
My regular patch is the area around Skinners Farm which is great as it's enclosed and covers a fairly large area, shame though the railway line goes through it. Oh well.

| | | Re: Edenbridge Sorry Kol, can't help you there, but if you look in your local phone book under organisations there may well be a local walking club listed there who may be able to help.

| | | Re: Edenbridge A couple of places that may be worth a visit are the 'Bough Beech Reservoir' which has a nature centre on the northern tip. That is near Winkhurst Green. (Grid TQ 492 492). The other could be a walk along the Eden Brook. (start TQ 440 459, head south to the brook and then follow the path past the 'Devils Den' (TQ 438 452).
At this point I have to say I have not visited myself but I have a virtual map and Google Earth and it looks ok. It is called the Eden Valley Walk. . . Let me know if you do venture that way, what it is like. . .

| | | Re: Edenbridge Also you have a little drive to Sevenaoks Wildlife Trust reserve ( Kent Wildlife Trust) and RSPB Tudely Woods reserve in Tudely.
There is a KWT reserve in Cowden too i believe ( well they have a reserve called Cowden Pound so i presume).
Check out Kent Wildlife Trust - Protecting Wildlife for the Future: the largest active conservation charity in Kent - Home for details of reserves.
You also have Hever Castle and Penshurst Place on your doorstep.
Use the WAB MAP feature here to have a look where these places are ( you can click on road maps or hybrid satellite pics) http://www.wildaboutbritain.co.uk/map/user
But i must point out...you need to check with ALL the places i have listed as to whether dogs are permitted ( particularly on nature reserves)

| | | Re: Edenbridge Thanks everyone, sorry I've not been able to get to the homepage so missed that map facility.
I don't have my own transport atm so it kind of needs to be walking distance, could bus it but I hate the bloody buses, lol.
I'll investigate the places mentioned. I have looked at Bough Beech in the past, it's a bit of a hike but seems worth it, I have found a few pics on flickr and one shows deer, so worth a visit methinks.

| | | Re: Edenbridge Hi Kol, I actually live in Bough Beech, moved here about 6 months ago with hubby and dog. We are still finding our way around and all the places that have been mentioned are good areas for walking, there is a lovely easy walk through Hever Golf Club, starting from the Wheat Sheaf Pub, it is a public foot path and dogs are allowed. If you can pick up an ordnance survey map 147 it covers most outdoor activities for this area. Hope this helps |
