| | | Christmas walking? Who's out walking over the Christmas period? Unfortunately due to ongoing health problems I don't think I will be getting to far, maybe a short walk along the Lancaster Canal on Boxing Day.
Anybody else got plans?
Dave

| | | Re: Christmas walking? Sorry to hear you've still got health problems, Dave - I hope you're soon fully recovered and out walking the fells again.
I'll probably do a walk or two here in the Chilterns over the Christmas period. I'm thinking of doing a walk from Pitstone Hill on Christmas Eve, we'll see.

Dave | My sympathies Dave - lovely as the canal is - its not the fells - but its tons better than being stuck indoors. We had a walk around the back at Leighton Moss late on yesterday afternoon and it was glorious and so welcome after being stuck in for a few weeks.
I'm going to the high tide at Southport on Christmas morning, while the better half goes visiting relatives .......... I may return in time to cook the turkey in the afternoon and us and the two small mothers may just about be eating our christmas dinner before supper ..............

Pauline | Glad you left it till late afternoon Pauline. It was a horrible, murky morning with rain in the morning. We were on the promenade at Morecambe and couldn't see Warton Crag just up the bay.
Have a good day.
Dave

| | | Re: Christmas walking? That's a shame must be frustrating, especially over the Christmas period when it's just nice to get away from it all - in solitude - for a while. Hopefully you've got lots of thing to keep you occupied?
I'm going to kidnap a friend (not safe in woods on own, trouble now and then) and walk to the Butts Brow dew pond - not far just a few miles there and back through the woods but it's a lovely walk and you hardly ever see anyone in them. though the wildlife round the pond is better in the summer months - it's in a big clearing and lots of butterflies - mainly blues - dragonflies and a grass snake last year. Keep meaning to get a microscope and do some pond dipping because it's teeming with life.
The woods are very beautiful too - the first part being primary ancient woodland - and there's birds everywhere (apart from when I'm on a count !). |

| | | Re: Christmas walking? I will certainly be trying to get in as many walks as possible over Christmas. I took the kids for a 5 mile walk around Horsham yesterday. They loved that! (not)
When I finish my cup of coffee we are off to the Hurtwood Forest in the Surrey Hills for a nice long walk - they are whinging already and we haven't even left yet. lol. | | | | | Thread Tools | | | | Display Modes | Linear Mode |
