There is a nice low-level walk (max height approx 670') which folllows the minor road N'wards to just past Miller Bridge where a left turn up a fairly steep tarmac lane will take you to Miller Brow. A signpost on the left takes you to the delightfull Lily Tarn from where there is a path down to Clappersgate with a short return along the road to Rothay Bridge. There are plenty of "leaflet walks" available at the shops in Ambleside. The walk to High Sweden Bridge returning by Low Sweden Bridge is a delight.

| | | Re: Christmas walking? We live in N Wales and are used to doing the mountains every week. I'm just a bit bothered about the weather. If it's not so good I don't want to risk any challenges in an area we don't know. |

BTW....Even though I love the Lake District to bits Tryfan is my favourite mountain. We did it a few years ago and I loved every minute of it. Arthritic knees and hips denied me the jump across from Adam to Eve though

| | | Re: Christmas walking? Are you near Llanberis? There used to be a conservation base there - few years ago now - Tydden Sial. Used to walk to the waterfall every morning - there was always a dipper there. |

| | | Re: Christmas walking? It is a beautiful area and once I've sorted my technical stuff out (I'm not very good), I'll post some pictures. We are hoping to walk up Moel Fammau tomorrow and I'll take my camera (which doesn't mean I'll get a decent picture!  ). |
