| | | Boot laces I recently replaced my boots with a pair of Scarpa's. Although the boot itself is excellent, I have a constant problem with the laces coming undone. I realise that lace tension may need to be adjusted from time to time, but this is becoming a vexation to the spirit, particularly when wearing gaiters.
Can anyone suggest a method, or replacement laces that will stop them constantly working loose?

RichBrew | Try rubbing soap or candle wax along the laces. Maybe soap on the left and wax on the right! Might help.

| | | Re: Boot laces I had a similar problem with a pair of Raikle boots I own......I took out the laces and dried them thoroughly. I then rubbed in cycle chalk dust quite thoroughly. (you can get this from any Halfords or bicycle shop). It worked a treat and I have not had the problem since......Caution, do not use blackboard chalk as when it rains it can run and leave white marks on your boots.

| | | Re: Boot laces Hi,
Have this problem nearly all the time now, fixed it by scrapping the round laces, and I think you'll find all yours are round, and buying flat ones, ahh bliss.
Max.
P.S. whoever thought of round laces wants.... er can't think of anything polite.

| | | Re: Boot laces Apologies for the late acknowledgment of your replies, but I think I've cracked it! Now, when tying the laces and starting with the granny knot, I begin with the right lace over the left (I usually do the reverse of this: right lace behind the left), then secure with a conventional bow. This has the effect of one applying tension to the other, and so prevents them coming undone. Just a case of experimentation.
Thanks for all your input on this subject.

| | | Re: Boot laces Well, I'm certainly going to look for the link because I've suddenly developed this problem (never ever had it before) and I can't walk for half an hour without retying my laces at least 2 or 3 times |
