Pictures from a River Kent walk

I did a walk today around the Levens area. It was a mixture of Parkland, Riverside and an old canal walk. Here's a few pictures from it.

The River Kent in Levens Park

An old canal bridge but no canal!

Re: Pictures from a River Kent walk

I've had brief stopovers around here and always fancied doing a few walks. It looks very pleasant. I think Sizergh Castle is close by, an interesting place.

That's right Chris. Sizergh Castle is only a couple of miles or so from Levens.

Hi Chris, I took this photo when I went to Sizergh Castle for the first time in my life last year after spending years driving past the signs. The gardens were wonderful - breath taking colours, the rock garden is amazing and all the acers are so beautiful.

I hope you don't mind Dave, your posts always bring back memories. The photo was already in the gallery and I thought I would link it.
I like the bridge photo - it make you think about what was there in the past.
Shirley

No problems at all Shirley, I must hang my head in shame and admit that I've never visited Sizergh and I've been a NT member for years

Re: Pictures from a River Kent walk

Lovely picture Shirley. I've never been inside Sizergh (I always seem to go in early spring before it opens!), but I've pottered round the grounds a few times looking for Hawfinches. There is an interesting village nearby called Brigsteer and in the surrounding woods in early April is a fabulous display of Wild Daffodils.

Regards, Chris

I have been inside the castle and it's really nice - if not a little small. But that wasn't a problem as it gave me more time in the gardens.

Well Dave , when you just fancy a little trip out and a nice easy day you should go along. It would be free anyway if you are NT members. As you say some times in your website diary, your wife doesn't always fancy a walk!
