| | | A circuit of Rydal Water and Grasmere Today we set off from Ambleside to do the circuit of Rydal Water and Grasmere taking in Alcock Tarn on the way. A delightful walk along good paths. Hope you enjoy.

I was in the Lake District not long ago (the last week of August) and we passed Rydal Water and Grasmere but never went there. We were staying in Far Sawrey near Hawkshead. The one thing I noticed in your photos is the colouring on the trees all ready, they were getting browner all the time. When we were there they weren't as colourful as some of the ones in your photos. Glad you had a good time and the weather was fine, Nicola.

Rydal Water is my favourite of all the lakes, I have been going there for the last 30 years. We stay in Rydal several times a year using it as a base for going around the lakes and with the late evenings (after a visit to the Badger Bar!) spent either by the river Rothay which runs at the bottom of the garden or by my favourtie spot on Rydal Water (which also happens to be the main banner photograph on my site). |

Lovely atmosphere and I was sitting right beside the stuffed Badger. The meal was lovely too and just to remind us we were in the country on the way out we saw 2 ladies having a pint with their horses outside near the car park. Only in the Lake District! P.S. I must add that the horses weren't drinking just the owners!!!
