A walk on the Howgill Fells

Today we left the car at Bowderdale Foot in the northern end of the Howgills and walked up the Bowderdale valley until we reached The Calf which is the highest point in the Howgills. We descended over Hazelgill Knott and West Fell back to our start point

Another good walk, Dave! Thanks for sharing your photos with us. As I've said before, I really enjoy your site - it brings back many happy memories, and shows views that I missed because of bad weather!

I know the Howgill Fells a little, but have only really walked there 2 or 3 times. I was particularly interested in the photos of Langdale. During WWII my mother was evacuated to that area, and went to Langdale School at the northern end of the valley.

Many thanks, I was very pleased with that one myself. The Howgills are full of little nooks and crannies, one day I'll take a walk up Langdale for a look around.

The photos were amazing! Think my favourite has to be of " Langdale with the Cobbles in the centre". Love the Lakes but haven't been to Howgill Fells,yet.

Don't leave it to long Fleur. The Howgills are a much neglected walking area probably because of the lack of tarns, wooded valleys etc, but they are a wonderful to walk upon. Thanks for your comments.
