| | | Re: New Forest Camping I wish I had read the tips about the railway before I set off! We wondered why there was a big space so jumped straight in it....I was half expecting it to be where the horses slept or like to congregate but even they were put off by the trains!!!!

I've recently been photographing the New Forest ponies at a location know locally as Little Scotland which is just half a mile from the camp site, and the area has a wide diversity of wild life. I've never used the camp site as I can reach the location by car in twenty minutes, but I can vouch for the pub!

| | | Re: New Forest Camping Me and my girlfriend have stayed at Ashurst a couple of times now, and would recommend it to anyone.
Good pub(s) within 1/2 mile, train station to anywhere you'd like to go, for cycle hire etc..., relatively cheap - Ashurst is in our opinion, the best place to stay to do a complete New Forest experience.
Plus - the Otter and Owl centre (its not bad you know) is a lovely short (cross country) walk from the site.
Cheers.

| | | Re: New Forest Camping We stayed at Hollands Wood a couple of weeks back. Its fine, trying to get in through security can be a challenge but I suppose it keeps out the riff-raff! Fairly near Brockenhurst although personally I would have preferred a small shop on site for milk etc.
Give the reptile centre a go while you're there, it was really good. |
