North Yorks Moors Rail Trail

Over the last 7 days we've walked the Rail Trail twice from Goathland to Grosmont - (many others were enjoying the experience too). Traffic free for most of the walk, we find it family friendly, peaceful and the scenery is beautiful - even bare trees on the skyline illustrated different hues of colour. Though we often stop for a picnic, we opted for a butty at Beck Hole en route on Tuesday. I've uploaded a few photos taken, to the Gallery - insects, plants, landscapes (northern England) to illustrate.

The Rail Trail is one I've done in past years, passing Beck Hole and Darnholme. I'm amazed this area has a great network of footpaths. I'm doing the Coast to Coast Walk this Spring and I had a idea of varying the route, this is my 5th crossing. So I have few routes in mind and from Osmotherley, I will probably take the Lyke Wake path to Simon Howe and head south to Goathland and take the Rail Trail back to Grosmont.
