Re: campsites for a young family?

Hi could recommend a site at Southwold but that isnt strickly Norfolk it is in Suffolk. Close to worbelswick. There is crabbing in the dykes and the beach very close but does get rather busy in Summer. I have seen seals there and plenty of Bass if you are a fisherman. There is plenty of wildlife Avocet, Harriers, and waders. Hope this helps.

Southwold is pretty with its own brewery ther the Beach huts are something to be seen and very very expensive but a wonderfull place all the same. Hope this helps.

Re: campsites for a young family?

All depends really on what your children like - I assume water, hills, woods but safe?

A good one in the Peak is Fieldhead near Edale - it's at the foot of Kinder Scout but there are softer walks, with waterfalls &c - and also good cycling: no childrens' things except a shallow brook (!) but cars aren't allowed on site thus making it safe. There are several fields with different rules - teenagers there, families here &c. There are other Peak sites but they can be a bit isolated and bleak for youngsters. But if the weather gets too bad you can always head for civilisation (or Sheffield, as we call it). The 'phone was 01433 670386.

There are lots of sites in Norfolk and I can't recommend any that I've been to () but High Sand Creek between Holt and Wells has been recommended especially for nature lovers High Sand Creek | Lifeandhealth | Life and Health - canoing, trains, pubs - I don't know why I haven't been there!

Have fun

Re: campsites for a young family?

Any general tips on this camping business especially with regard to families? Could be a useful resource.

I have to admit that, although I went camping as a boy and teenager, I gave it up when I became a parent ... until recently when I'm getting back into it again. I was, basically, terrified of what could happen to young children while camping - less so now (although my grandchildren could well wreak havoc ...) but think there must be many more folk who don't consider camping with youngsters?
