| | | Re: More Coastal Access it seems a good idea in theory so long as it is aplied sensibly and provision is given for restricting access where habitats or species would suffer from increased disturbance (terneries at cemlyn bay and Blakeney point for example)
but i wouldnt get to excited just yet as i would suspect that once all the consultation papers etc are done the end result will be somewhat watered down

| | | Re: More Coastal Access Yes I agree it sounds great, but I do worry about the animals in these areas that aren't used to great numbers of people walking through their homes. Unfortunately not everyone respects the countryside or wildlife. |

| | | Re: More Coastal Access With 70% of the coast of Wales threatened by climate change and other localised flooding/erosion/inaacessability due to development it's going to be a tough (and expensive) task to create a flexible, workable path system. £50M has been earmarked so far but what will be the final bill? And, of course, our coast is already under a natural threat, see Friends of the Earth: Briefing: GOING UNDER? - |

| | | Re: More Coastal Access the coastal access is going to be seriously thought out as there are a number of extremely important coastal habitats that simply won't be able to withstand increased visitor numbers. there are also issues with the compulsory purchase of farmland in order to create the paths. however, in principle, the idea of creating a coastal footpath isn't a bad one. it'll be interesting to see how it pans out.

| | | Re: More Coastal Access The coastal path where we live has had to be moved back at least 3 times in the 18 years that we have lived here due to coastal erosion. Now parts of it have been fenced off by the local council and the paths have quickly been taken over by brambles, nettles and gorse. | | | | Thread Tools | | | | Display Modes | Linear Mode |
