| | | Re: Video camara Hi there. Im my experience, JVC make a great camcorder, and all you really need to look for is one that records in HD 1920x1080, and preferably to a hard drive. SD card recorders are okay, but they sometimes struggle with long periods of recording. If you are planning to do some wildlife filming with an unattended camera, than a hard drive would be fine.
My current camcorder is in the JVC Everio range with a 80gb drive - this was about £600 4 years ago. I think if you if look at a minimum of £300, it should give you a nice enough camera.
Hope that helps

| | | Re: Video camara with a 500 quid budget you should be able to get something nice
if clarity is what you want HD is a must but as allready said make sure it's 1080p
i wouldn't worry too much about the hard drive / sd issue i have a panasonic full hd camcorder with both and to honest i tend to use sd cards more than the hard drive it's just easier to whip the card out and use it in the pc than attaching the camcorder to access it drive
one thing about 1080p HD video footage
is your PC / Laptop up to date ??
if not your gonna struggle editing the video it takes quite a bit of processing power to do so
it's one of the main reasons i upgraded my pc |

| | | Re: Video camara I have a Panasonic HDC SD600 and it's excellent. Very easy to use and really good quality HD. No regrets about buying it. Amazon price at the moment is £480.
It's been superseded by the SD 800 and Amazon price is £482 and £50 cash back but I haven't compared the 2 cameras or reviews so couldn't comment on it's quality. If they are like for like then that's a good deal.
As Cosmicma says though HD does take a lot of oomph from the computer. I gather if the computer isn't good enough you'll have problems with editing.
Cosmicma gave me a lot of useful advice when I was looking for editing software. I went for Power Director 9. Again easy to use. | | | | Thread Tools | | | | Display Modes | Linear Mode |
