| | | Great silver water beetles hatching I showed a few folks this at Priory, so thought I'd put it on here:
Last week 2 great silver water beetle egg cocoons were found in a pond and one wouldn't float properly so didn't get put back. I went back to see what I could do to fix it and it had started to hatch! Neil - Hatching great silver water beetle video |

Great silver water beetles are not amazingly rare but have declined a lot and can only be found in certain areas now.
I'm not rearing any in captivity but I've been careful not to remove any weed completely from the pond they are in so not to kill any eggs/larvae. Sadly 'Ive not found any while dipping the pond since releasing them, but it a big deep pond so hopefully they are in their somewhere! |
