| | | Youtube on the forum I would really like a definitive answer.
Is it permitted to post youtube clips in a relevant thread? And is there a forum shortcut? Or do we use the reduced code method?

I'm not a mod so dont take this as definitive, but I think when it was last discussed the upshot was it was fine to link to youtube, or other externally hosted video, but not to embed it in the page (due to bandwidth issues)
Like i said I could be wrong so if you want a truly definitive answer you'll have to contact stuartDH

| | | Re: Youtube on the forum the above are links to take you to the host site ie youtube, yahoo video etc etc. you are then on that sites hosting and so not affecting the servers for WAB.
The difference is you dont get the "tv" screen affect on here you will see on other sites so you can not get an idea before clicking on the link if the content will be as described

Vince | What Tom said basically
you can (i think) post links that take you to a you tube page, like those above, but you cant create a little viewing window (ie embedding the clip) to watch the video actually on wab. (the obvious proviso to thisd is that the content linked to must be suitable for wab and otherwise conform with forum rules such as no politics, religion, advertising etc)
The reason why not being that people watching video puts a lot of demand on the server - whereas if you post a link they are watching it on someonelses server

| | | Re: Youtube on the forum I think I understand all the above but not knowing much about Youtube I'm not entirely sure.
If I put some video onto Youtube then give a link from WAB would that be ok?
I was videoing red squirrels in the garden this afternoon and heard a very distinctive bird call and wondered if a member could identify it for me. | | | | | Thread Tools | | | | Display Modes | Linear Mode |
