Hi Everyone,
I am hoping that somebody can help me on this thread please.
I am new to video work and I am desperate for some advice on a project I am doing locally. Over the last few months I have been tracking local Otters and I now believe I have a number of sites visted by them regularly and I am desperate to film them.
I have heard that a good and very cost effective way to film at night is to set up an Infra Red CCTV camera to a camcorder?, the advantage of this set up I have been told is that it can be left overnight (in waterproof casing) to film away or the leads can be run to the comfort of your car where the cam corder can be monitored in comfort of a car heater.
I may sound completely ignorant but I am usually taking still photography so this is all new to me.
WHat i would like to achieve is a portable camera kit I can take to a site and leave overnight or one I can monitor but from a safe distance.
What i am unsure about is if the CCTV camera will need its own power supply ow will it take power from the camcorder?
I do not have a fortune to spend so initially I am looking to get infra red footage as cheaply as possible.
Any help or advice on kit, technique etc would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks
Andy
