| | | Help with Lens Hi,
I'm quite new to wildlife filming. Could anyone tell me if it would be worth getting a 72mm Wide Angle Lens 0.43 X for the Canon XL1s? For landscape and invertebrate filming.
Any advice would be mush appreciated.
Thanks |

It will certainly give you a wider angle for landscape shots. Can't really see the advantage for invert. shots as you can focus nearly to the front element of the "standard" 20x lens at its wide angle setting. I find it ideal for bugs/butterflies etc.
I have the Canon wide angle adapter for my Canon XM2 and the quality is excellent. However, I've not got one for my XL2 as I'm usually shooting wildlife at the top end of the zoom.
Are you familiar with the DVInfo web site? They have separate forums and info on most camcorders and you will find answers to just about everything you could want. The XL1S sections are at: The Canon XL1 Watchdog
for the info pages and: Canon XL1S / XL1 Watchdog Forum at DVinfo.net
for the forum.
Hope that helps,
