| | video problems Hi, Does anyone know why uploading videos is so difficult, I have been trying to upload some small films of fox cubs to another member of this forum, After a long time it says one hundred per cent done and then says that it failed, some times it say some thing about source, These vids are only recorded on a digital camera but it plays well on our pc, Could this be a time limit thing perhaps we have to change the format of videos, I have very limited experience with these things but my wife has just made some small but good fox and bird film clips, thanks, aland. |

| | | Re: video problems Hi Aland - sorry you've had problems sending a video clip to friends - it could [or maybe does] exceed the allocated file size permitted on some ISP networks.
I was equally nervous about Youtube, when I started sending videos in January, but not any more - the huge scale of Youtube ensure a very large measure of anonymity to users. I now include vids of family birthdays/ events and beyond a necessary very short title [like 'bills b' or 'bugs'], omit keywords / text to minimise others finding you via searches!
Suggest you search Youtube under "starting on youtube" etc for some excellent [and rubbish] vids as a guide - some give advise on your personal Youtube settings to remain reasonably covert. Good luck - I've never looked back and now have my own channel and just email friends etc with the unique Youtube URL for them to view my new video - the minimal hits indicate to me nobody else is viewing them - if I don't want them too and if you're really picky you can confine the viewers to a private list of up to 25 people

| | | Re: video problems If you're nervous of You Tube then Vimeo.com is a good place to put your wildlife videos. If you are interested in honing your filming techniques then there are groups you can join specifically for birds etc, and the people are generally very nice and helpful.
I also have a You Tube account myself but I tend to upload stuff and not get too involved in the social side of it because it does seem to be the favourite place for 'Trolls' to hang out.
