| | | Lenticular clouds I don't have any photos of yesterday's phenomenal lenticular clouds which were hanging over some parts of North Yorkshire, but they were stunning and a real priviledge to see. I gather they are pretty rare in the UK and certainly took your attention when looking skywards.
If anyone else from this area has a photo of them, please feel free to post it.
There's always something new to see!!

| | | Re: Lenticular clouds While in the R.A.F. I went to R.A.F. Dishforth for a gliding holiday over Chrustmas many moons ago. Contacted the wave and was going up like the 'homesick angel' all set for a diamond height.
Never got my diamond as night was drawing in. At 17,000 feet, the sun is still up, but it is getting very dark at ground level. The Chief Flying Instructor had the sense to say "Everything on the ground by 16:30".
Anyway. . . no better sight than cruising along the leading edge of a lenticular cloud, or seeing them away in the distance like a stack of dinner plates. I pulled the speed limiting air brakes and pointed the nose of the glider straight down, it took me 7 minutes to get down. Cheers, Tony. | | | | Thread Tools | | | | Display Modes | Linear Mode |
