| | | Hard frost Wow. We've got the hardest frost I've seen for a very long time, here in North Kent.
Think it will finish off any flowers that were fooled into thinking it was spring or even summer.
I feel sorry for the birds, they must be shocked by this sudden cold.

I am off work today so like Tormentil I may venture out with my camera.
Yes, possibly snow tomorrow .... I may get snowed in and not be able to return to work .

Mind you, if you get a good shot of one, it might be the first in the gallery.
That'd knock Graham a bit, your polar bear v his Otter shot.

| | | Re: Hard frost Nobody much moving in the garden this morning. Either the birds are staying in whatever warmish places they have found for thee night or they are frozen to their perches, poor things. I've been out in dressing gown and fleece to give them some fresh unfrozen seed and nuts, so I hope they appreciate it. |

Joking Mr Moderator sir, genius cameraman, etc etc. grovel | Right, I am back home after 4 hours out in the frosty, sunny weather.
Loads of photos .... but sorry no luck with Otter, Mink or Polar Bear .
Plenty of photos of some more commoner birds such as Mallard, Coot, Canada Goose and Great Crested Grebe. I might put a few up later if I have some good ones .
Time for a cheese roll and then I may go out again .... just one more look for a Polar Bear .

| | | Re: Hard frost Really frozen here in Bristol, thawing nicely now though. That'll upset the robins and collared doves who started nest building nearly two weeks ago. Now if only I could stop the neighbours cat sitting by the feeders all day so the birds can eat |

There was one in the garden this morning playing with something. I went out to see what it was and it was a poor little shiny-eyed mouse - still alive but semi disembowled.

Very quiet at Messingham. The Wader hide was a waste of rations. Everything was in the only bit of clear water, right across the other side of the lake. Anyway still had a good stroll round and was gonna head for home at 11, but decided to have a look round the local wood at Twigmore. Saw quite a few Treecreepers and there was the usual plethora of tits (Longtailed, Coal, Blue and Great).
Got back to the car and missed a great opportunity; had just put the camera away when two buzzards came circling overhead, quite low.

What I do is get in the car, turn the music up and say something unrepeatable.
