Not so nice weather for the ducks...

Poor birds and wildlife in this weather....
I walked Rochdale Canal today which was mainly frozen. The ducks were hanging around the locks as these still had open water. A lady came along with a bag of bread (end of day reductions from Morrisons - good idea!) I know bread might not be the best food, but it's better than no food! It was snowing hard today and when she turned up they were positively skating along the canal to get in the food queue! So I snapped a few pics.....



This last one shows how frozen the canal is....


This walk was to buy bird food from the garden centre, and it was worth every mile.....

As i walked around today there were ditches frozen over with just very small areas of water freely available - i wished i could have climbed down the bank and broken some of the ice

the lake near me is frozen over and the birds are finding it hard work...my girlfriend and i passed them all trying to find somthing to eat...so we went of and bough a few bags of bread came back and feed them. iv neaver seen them so trusting of man, i could have picked them up and they woundnt have minded.

going to go down again this week and feed them again...wholegrain this time

Lovely photos. My favourites are the Mallard. Walking on slush on ice and swimming with snow on it's back.
