just saw lightening and heard thunder but its snowing!!! how is this possible and is good or bad thing!!!! |

Hi skyelarker,
Use the term "thundersnow" in a Google search and you should get some information. I don't know much about the phenomenon myself, but it sounds exciting. Hope you weren't stuck outside in it.

We have sat and listened to the thunder (no lightening) something to do with ice particles in the clouds altering the electrical charge.

I remember experiencing thunder and lightning during a snowstorm 15 years ago, whilst living in Newcastle upon Tyne. It happened at night when we were out walking in a local park (Jesmond Dene) - the whole landscape lit up, it was amazing.  Never had it happen again, though. |
