I always await the first snows with eager anticipation (rubbing my hands I am now at the prospect).

| | | Re: Colder weather on the way! Yippee.... According to weather forecast tonight it said towards the end of next week there will be a significant drop in temp and heavy frosts.....for me as an am. photographer I can't wait to get out there and take some snaps of the frosty mornings and hopefully if skies are clear, great sunnies....
Just hope everyone remembers to feed the birds et al......
Bring it on!

Welcome to WAB cd_82.
Up here in Scotland we've already had our first sprinkling of snow but this looks as if it could be a little bit more. Sleet from now until Wed 24th when it turns to snow. (Forecast could change of course). As Farplace said, an ideal time for checking for prints of what might be lurking in your neighbourhood. |

A couple of years back we visited the Killhope Lead Mining Museum and saw a good number of red squirrels in the conifer woods there. Have the greys reached as far as you now and the reds no more?

Chris | There's still red squirrels at Killhope, and also at Allenheads. But just grey squirrels in upper Weardale - just 5 or 6 miles from Killhope. Many of the conifers at Killhope have gone - The entire wood across the road from the Lead Mining museum. The conifers behind the museum are still there though.
