| | | "There is no such thing as bad weather..." "There is no such thing as bad weather, only the wrong clothes" is a favourite phrase of mine. Within reason (I'm not talking about the very extremes of weather or endangering life) I'll don boots or wellies, warm clothes and waterproofs, and go out walking in the wind, pouring rain, snow or whatever. It seems that most people that I know do not share this view.
What about other WAB members? With the last few days of summer upon us, are you prepared for the colder, wetter months ahead? Maybe you are positively looking forward to "bad" weather, maybe you view it as a challenge. I'd like to know what others do and think.

| | | Re: "There is no such thing as bad weather..." There's a lot of "bad" weather that I enjoy. I loved the snow we had last winter and am hoping we get it again this one. I also love a good thunderstorm. I'm not so fond of those days where the sky is just a uniform dull gray and I get pretty fed up with drizzle. Rain or don't rain but not this miserable drizzle!
The worst thing about bad weather for me is that I wear glasses and rain drops all over the lenses tend to spoil the view.

| | | Re: "There is no such thing as bad weather..." I hate high humidity, and the dark last winter really depressed me. Cold I'm quite happy with as long as I have dry feet |

| | | Re: "There is no such thing as bad weather..." HOWEVER..... "bad" weather does affect wildlife. We get many more wild things in at the sanctuary during prolonged rain or high winds. Bats and owls in particular dont cope very well in these conditions. Often there is nothing actually wrong with the animal apart from exhaustion and hunger. On the other hand, we get more hedgehogs in at the sanctuary during prolonged heat waves - not so many slugs, snails and worms to be found, and the added dangers of strimmer injuries and fly-strike.

| | | Re: "There is no such thing as bad weather..." Well Deb,
The Potting Shed & now this great idea for yet another a thread!
You really have settled into WAB very well indeed I must say!
I love getting out & about amongst the flora & forna but I don't do Soaking wet or totally muddy! It definitely spoils my enjoyment!
Having said that, just like Dave, I love a good thunderstorm & adored getting out in all that snow we had earlier this year!!
I love Autumn for it's colours & the wind & 'showers' won't hold me back from wandering the countryside to shoot photo's of this lovely time of year!
Wellies, waterproof & hat & maybe the brollie , at the ready, just incase!
Vicki.

| | | Re: "There is no such thing as bad weather..." I loved the snows last year, the more snow the more walks my dogs got, even tho I ocaisionally had to dig my car out & then up a hill to get to work. Fog I hate & those cold damp 'driech' (scottish word not sure of spelling!) days, those days are just to stay inside with a good book or dvd.
Any other sorts of rain, wind (within reason) don't bother me as long as you have the 'right clothes'

| | | Re: "There is no such thing as bad weather..." Adverse weather is great! Been nearly knocked out by deer jumping hedges in the fog.Been soaked to the skin many a time.Waded through flooded fields and tracks.Eat sandwiches in the snow on Disused aquaducts, also eat last of my wedding cake 4 years ago on top of a coal batch(tip) in heavy rain. All part of the enjoyment of the moment.
