Autumn late or not?

Keep hearing various comments in the media about Autumn being late this year, but we picked Blackberries a couple weeks ago, and don't usually get them until this month. There also seem to be a lot of ripe sloes about too.

Are you seeing things early too?

I haven't checked in my gardening book yet but I saw a Laburnum tree in flower today and thought that was rather late. The rose hips are nice and big and red this year,could this mean we are in for a cold winter?

Well I noticed the leaves beginning to noticeably turn colour around early September, quite a bit earlier than last year when it was closer to late September/beginning of October.

Blackberries became inedible much earlier, just turned to mush many of them never ripened. Last year there were edible blackberries well into October.

Looks like the lesser black backed gulls have retreated for another year. They don't usually leave until November.
