Jim | Nice one Jim  Lunchtime yesterday I spied, for the first time, a partial Oval Circumscribed Halo + the regular 22º Halo - according to expert Les Cowley of Atmospheric Optical Phenomena [AOP]- it's an oval halo in contact with the circular 22 deg halo  See http://www.atoptics.co.uk/halo/circum.htm  
Can this [or another] thread be dedicated to AOP so its easier to find? I look for this stuff a lot
