Beautiful day!

I hope the weather yesterday (4 December) was as good for everyone as it was for me. An almost perfect December day - sun shining, light wind, plenty of birds around - Fieldfares swallowing large Sloes whole, Blue Tits and Great Tits zipping about, small flocks of Rooks flying hither and yon, the odd Great Spotted Woodpecker feeding at the peanuts (the day before I had two GSWs duetting from different parts of the garden; one calling at about three times the rate of the other. Don't know if it was a territorial or a marital dispute!)

Spent much of the day in the garden, raking up leaves, trimming brambles and scything a few nettles and just generally pottering about and enjoying things.

Sounds perfect! Especially the bit about your GSWs!! I was busy all weekend and so I was unable to enjoy any birding walks. However, I did manage a minor potter in the garden, like yourself, but it was just to clean the feeders and refill them, then it was back to household chores :-( and seeing to endless guests for my son's 9th birthday.
