| | | Re: Tornado hits NW London Sitting in Uni today, we noticed the weather change and gales kick up in a flash, we happned to joke it looked like a tornado was on the way. It was a huge shock to see one on the news after that! I was about 44 miles from London so it may have been the tail end of something. |

| | | Re: Tornado hits NW London It had to happen they (tornadoes) have been in open country or offshore for the most part
they are more frequent than we realise and only when they hit an urban area do we get some sense of their destructive power

| | | Re: Tornado hits NW London I read somewhere.. could have been the discovery channel (or Readers Digest) that we have more tornados per acre than America.
It is pretty gusty here just now. I have a tin roof on my cottage.. and boy is it flexing. It takes a lot to worry me but I have a feeling summat is gonna go tonight... and I have to put a weight on my chihuahua to prevent him being blown away

| | | Re: Tornado hits NW London I was in a uni minibus on route to a field trip at Kew Gardens....we didnt SEE the tornado but everything suddenly went black and we were in a fierce hail storm and wind..I was actually dozing and it suddenly woke me then we witnessed a large crane get struck by lightning which some initially thought was a flare or firework being let off?
As a result Kew was very very windy, wet and dark .
oh well....i shall return in the summer for a proper look. It was that bad that all the pea hens and peacocks kept making a beeline for the inside of the visitors shop and cafe we were sat in ! | | | | Thread Tools | | | | Display Modes | Linear Mode |
