| | | Setting up a weather station Does anyone have any advice about setting up a weather station at a primary school? I don't think our budget is very big. What make and type would be best? Any advice would be gratefully received!

I run a small radio controlled weather station here in Snowdonia, for my own enjoyment, which in my opinion would be ideal for an infant/junior school.
It comprises of an outdoor part measuring temperature, wind speed, humuidity, rainfall, air pressure and has a transmitter.
The indoor part is a screen with a read-out of all the measurements from the outdoors plus indoor readings of temp. and humidity. It shows air-pressure changes over a period of hours.
It shows max/min for all readings for day/month/year. It makes visual forcasts of the weather for the coming period.
There are many such 'hobby' stations now available for between 50/500 pounds.
The difference between this and the traditional type of station is that you do not have to visit the station to take readings ie. checking rainfall guage, which may detract from the pupils enjoyment a little, but great for wet days!
