I was searching for some info on the state of the ice on Kinder Downfall yesterday and came across an amazing picture of Mam Tor and the Great Ridge. External and not mine, so I won't embed it, but here's the link. Blue John Rib
Didn't find any current photo's of Kinder though, so planning a trip up to the Downfall this weekend. It doesn't get ice climbed much these days, especially during the day, all a bit wet and drippy. Some of the more "extreme" climbers will go up at night when the temperature drops and climb it by torchlight, but I'm confident the current cold spell should mean a good icefall even in daylight. Typically, it seems like the sunshine will desert me again at just the wrong time, but it's still worth a trip just to see how it's looking. | | | |
