| | | good time for sundogs With more folk out and about before dusk and after dawn it's a good time of year to see sundogs low down and either side some 22 degrees from the sun - here's a fair one from the bedroom window this morning reinforced by cirrus cloud Sun dog - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The complete 22 degree diameter halo around a bright if hazy moon is fairly common whilst the rarer moondogs, sitting on the halo and level with the moon are uncommon
In theory both halo and stardogs can be around any bright object/ star in the sky but only the sun and moon are bright enough for us to see them
