Temps dropped to -4 overnight and had another fall of snow ,so far at the moment seems to be warming up slightly or so it seems but according to forecast not to be for long as more forecasted again

Started off very white and frosty with ice on roads and pavements. By half nine it was raining heavily and has been, on and off, ever since. It is marginally warmer...that is the temperature is just above freezing...!

Heaven help us if this lot freezes overnight....

Heaven help us is right. Can't stand up on the drive and the road is worse and that's only the cold in the ground as it at least 2.5 c here at the moment. A cold night and no one is going anywhere on the morrow. It's still raining and still forming ice on top of ice and not a gritting lorry in sight.

Spoke to soon this morning thought we were in for a bit of a thaw fat chance by lunch time back out defrosting birdbath temp -3 snow flurries,temps tonight could drop even lower they reckon for christmas day full on snow

A beautiful sunny cold blue day was seeing a slight thaw which was making the icy bits icier ........ then tonight boy has it snowed - huge white flakes - its put another couple of inches down - the car had disappeared under it then a few mins ago it suffered an 'avalanche' and dumped a huge amount off the back of the car onto the floor The sky is purplish yellow so I don't think its finished with us yet. The turkey is still safely buried under a huge mound of snow on the patio - I shall dig it out in the morning and begin thawing it out slowly ........ there willl be wailing and gnashing of teeth if its gone when I get up

Cloudy and cold temp 0c untreated roads (the one I have to use,) so slippy I couldn't stand up. How ever the roads are clear at the moment. It does look like more rain to come.

Snow has fallen, snow on frozen snow in south Cumbria making things very tricky where the roads weren't gritted on the first round.

It's all very picturesque and the skies look heavily laden with more to come.

Pauline, your Turkey's situation caused me to remember an embarrassing moment at Christmas many years ago. I went to stay at my Mums over Christmas and took my lurcher with me. On Christmas morning the dog was out in her secure garden but noticeable by his absence. A knock on the door from the neighbour two doors down saying "Was this my dog who had just been caught lifting the turkey off the kitchen table?" The lady was just about to put it in the oven! After a wipe down the bird was cooked and all was well. Things could have been horribly different if he wan't spotted in the nick of time. Five foot fences are no problem to a lurcher!

Hello Pauline how is the turkey still there? or is some fox enjoying christmas dinner early?

Weather today up here is very very cold temps overnight -10 at the moment sitting at - 7 very icy and frosty had slight covering again of snow more to follow
