| | | Red sky in the morning, shepherds warning. We have got, here in Kent, a fuchsia pink coloured sky. These old sayings do work out sometimes, so I'll let you know if it's true.
Anyone else work the 'old sayings system' of weather prediction?

| | | Re: Red sky in the morning, shepherds warning. Here are some weather sayings and I'm sure they can be added to.:
Ne'er cast a clout till May is out
One Swallow does not make a summer.
It's raining cats and dogs!!!
When clouds look like rocks and towers,
the earth will be refreshed by showers
A cow with it's tail to the west, makes weather the best,
A cow with it's tail to the east, makes weather the least.
When the wind’s from the south the rains in its mouth.
Oak before ash we are in for a slpash
Ash before oak we are in for a soak.
Ring around the moon - Rain before noon.
Clear moon frost soon
A good Scottish one is: IF YOU DON'T LIKE THE WEATHER, WAIT 5 MINUTES.

| | | Re: Red sky in the morning, shepherds warning. This morning bought the best sunrise that I have seen in a long time, it was nothing short of spectacular and a sure sign that some unsettled weather is just round the corner!
I quickly took a few images of it with one of my compacts as I wouldn't have had time to dig out a small lens for one of the DSLR's, the spectacular bit lasted less than 10 minutes but it was stunning whilst it lasted. |

| | | Re: Red sky in the morning, shepherds warning. Great images Steve and Stewy! Seems we're all in for a 'bit o'weather' as my old Nan would have said.
Fantastic colours.

| | | Re: Red sky in the morning, shepherds warning. Same colour sky here too. The only bit of brightness that we have seen all day. It lasted about five minutes just after 7.30 this morning.
Great pics from elsewhere folks. |

Anyone else work the 'old sayings system' of weather prediction? | A good Lancashire one, 'If Pendle wears a woolly cap, then the farmer can take a nap'.
