| | | Rain in Cambridgeshire Quote from henrya <Another plea from Cambridgeshire for lots more rain please! ... The damage being done to wildlife by the low rainfall this year is not easily reversible.> Endquote
I don't know in what part of the county you are but yesterday as I drove from Peterborough eastwards there was quite a lot of water lying in the fields. Maybe in a month or so a lot more rain will be appreciated by me; not this early when crops are still being harvested.
One of my lasting memories was of a dawn the last year the Nene Washes were flooded. To see 400+ Tundra Swan (Berwick's) take off and fill the sky was something I shall never forget. I would love to see a repeat performance.
I do agree that much wildlife is suffering but maybe if we humans were more careful in our use of such a lifegiving resource who knows but there might be enough for all without the need to plead for more.

| | | The rain in the last two or three days has been very unevenly spread - I heard on the local news that flash floods had affected a school at Bar Hill, but on my part of the Huntingdonshire Wolds we had very little and what there was the fields just soaked up. Also the harvest here is just about finished. I gather at Wandlebury at the end of July nettles and plantains were dying and the berries were falling off the hawthorns through lack of rain.
