| | | Re: Sun dog? I snapped this yesterday afternoon in our garden in the cold looking for birds either in the garden or flying over.
It is subtle and beuatiful - and aptly describes the average WABber

| | | Re: Sun dog? I once saw a triple sundog; appropriately enough, in the sky over a Green Gathering at the Glastonbury festival site in Somerset, summer of '84 or '85. A beautiful sight.

| | | Re: Sun dog? I once had the good fortune to see a 'moonbow' some years ago. It was Late autumn and dark at about 7.30pm. near Barnard Castle. With a bit of overcast, a light rain and a bright moon I suppose conditions were ideal. No camera unfortunately but once seen never forgotten. The bow was quite pronounced and, of course, a pale silver against the black sky. In an urban environment with much random light at night the chances of a viewing are remote. There are websites showing this phenomonen |

| | | Re: Sun dog? Sun-dogs seem common in winter - probably more cirrus cloud then and folk are about around dawn/dusk [going to/from work] when the sun is at the right altitude in the sky for sun-dogs and halos to form |
