I love this weather too!
It's wonderful to see sunbathing animals .. Rabbits are the best for this, they look so relaxed!

Re: 30c Temperatures today!

Is it really less than two weeks since we were all complaining about the cold, wet weather we had been having? The degree of extremes has been quite considerable but it certainly ensures that you just take things easy if poss. My chair's out, drink and book to hand - the gardening can wait!

Re: 30c Temperatures today!

Hi
Yes the hot weather is great, but why do some many Brits sit outside under the canopy or dive inside to put a fan on.
Seems we are never happy whatever the weather.

Re: 30c Temperatures today!

My tortoises LOVE the hot weather and are soaking up the rays as I type this. Mind you, don't think my next door but one neighbours do. They're having a right old barney in the garden. We're all waiting for the saucepans to come a flying!! Heat obviously doesn't suit all!! ww

If you've had skin cancer it's a wake-up call. Just been down to Cornwall and on Gyllynvase beach at Falmouth this week we saw a little chap - about 3 years old - sitting in full hot sun for ages with no hat, or covering on his pushchair, whilst his mum and dad sunbathed next to him. Hope he didn't suffer that night (or perhaps in the future). Others on the beach were generally more sensible.

Skin problems aside I just hate being in full sunlight!

My little tortoise has been asleep virtually all day, think the heat has been a bit much for him - but then I have to admit I have been asleep for a fair amount of time...

Temperature inside the house is currently 32c - I would probably be better off outside

Re: 30c Temperatures today!

Aw thats cute!

Yes the dangers of this time of year is the UV rays from the sun, although nice to bake in, its always safer to put sun cream on because we dont want anymore people getting skin cancer as it can even be deadly!

Some top tips for summer :

* Wear sun cream minimum factor 15
* Wear a hat and cover up appropiatly
* Drink plenty of water, even if not feeling thirsty
* Dont go swimming in danger areas such as strange rivers or lakes (heared that a young boy drowned somewhere in yesterdays news)
* Always make sure BBQ food is cooked thoroughly.

HAVE FUN

Re: 30c Temperatures today!

Sound advice there FRF, the type that we all should be listening to. I've had salmonella from BBQ food and it's not nice. Took me six weeks to recover!!!!!ww

Also be aware of your skin type when choosing sun cream. I have fair skin and wear factor 50 - but still nearly always get burnt.

Re: Sun cream

I taxied an old lady last week who told me that "anything over factor 15 was a wast of time". She seemed supprised when I told her that my minimum was 25.

She said "I have only ever used low factors and my skins OK no sign of skin cancer".

Her eyesight was not good. Not good at all.

With our hobbies / work, factor 50 is highly reccomended, and a hat for us baldies
