Early Warning: Heatwave

Issued 9th June 2006

Yes its true the MET Office has now issued an early warning of severe weather for Heatwave conditions over the next 94 hours. Thats the next 4 days folks!

There is also a Heat Health Watch at level 1. Further details availbale on both sites or by visiting Tamworth Weather Station.

Please note that the warnings can change at short notice and you should keep upto date with the latest situation.

4 days?

I have put off some work til Monday when I felt it would be cooler, Blow it. A few nice bike rides me thinks. Are we in for a late summer? I guess the weather in Tamworth has been as poor as Brum. Be glad to get some sun on my back

Well May was pretty wet that's for sure. Apparently looking at figures the pattern is similar to that of 2003 (not that that necessarily means anything). 2003's summer resulted in many deaths across France and cenral europe due to the heat.

Had a little sparrow give up the ghost yesterday on the concervatory roof. I presume it was brought on by the heat.

Yes i agree, its so hot here that its hard sleeping at 2:30am in the morning so iam upn for an hour till it gets cooler hehe

Just to get back on topic, the heat heealth watch has now been updated for Saturday 10th June 2006

The probability of heatwave conditions in part of England and Wales between 0900 on Sunday and 0900 on Wednesday is 50%

Well I've been out in it allday running a festival - I've drunk 13 pints of water and havent needed the little boys room once, my light blue works uniform is now black with sweat and my red hat got so wet with sweaty stuff it started leaching pink dye down my forehead. I think that qualifies as a heat wave

Incidentally does anyone know who coined the phrase "sweating like a pig", as far as I know our porcine brethren dont actually sweat at all !

I guess whoever meant to say "sweating like a horse" and it came out wrong.

Hi
Very glad the weather mans on our side, now if he can make sure the weather is great last week in June and First week July I will be happy, for I'm off to Norfolk.
About the Pigs don't know if they sweat, but I understand they get sun burnt.
