Sunset Rainbow

I went to take a photo of a sunset a few evenings ago, I turned around and this is what I saw

If you look closely there is a secondary bow.

Re: Sunset Rainbow

Nice shot
I took a photo of a rainbow last year & on one side of the rainbow it's nice & sunny & on the other side it's dark grey, because there was a storm on the way.

Re: Sunset Rainbow

I've seen a treble bow (but not when I had a camera) - can they go further? Quadruple bows?

There are a few rainbow pictures on WAW along with an explanation of how they double up.

Sorry to disappoint you there was only the beautiful rainbow. The colour of it was simply due to the fact that it coincided with a strong red sunset and for once I was in the right place at the right time and had my camera!

Blimey, if it appeared at a football match that would be so scary.

Hallelujah! I have told various people of this and no one believed me... Thank you Paul!! I think that the secondary bow is inverted.. am I right?
