Bluebells in the snow

The weather really is topsy turvy these days. We awoke to about 4 inches of snow this morning - first snow that has actually lain on the ground this winter. It has been amusing to watch the wildlife and their reaaction to it - mostly bemused! Even a buzzard flew over looking confused.

Bluebells in the snow.

Berberis in the snow.

This baby muntjac was trying to keep his little paws out of the snow!

The green woodpecker didn't know what to do with himself - he normally spends his time picking ants out of the lawn but this morning there was no lawn!

Mr and Mrs Pheasant like to pick up seed dropped from the bird feeders - no luck this morning.

This little blue tit was all fluffed up against the cold.

Snow is disappearing fast unfortunately.

Jenny

The photograph of the green woodpecker is sensational, Jenny! He has such a good expression.

Re: Bluebells in the snow

Thanks everyone. We get snow so rarely that most of the wildlife have never seen it before. It has been really entertaining.

Re: Bluebells in the snow

Really lovely account of todays snow, we got some too and that as you say is really unusual! It was beautiful and although alot it did not last long once the sun came out. You managed to capture a lot of wildlife in such a short time, fantastic.

Re: Bluebells in the snow

Beautiful photos Jenny. I love the bluebell with ice around the stem and the bird shots are super. The colours really stand out against the snow.
