Re: Big Storm brewing

Metcheck have this...

"There is growing confidence of a deep and potent are (sic) of low pressure affecting the British Isles during Monday of next week.

Details and exact paths are still open to fluctuation, however all with interests outside during Monday should be aware of the potential for damaging winds and heavy rain making travelling conditions dangerous.

This watch will be updated during Friday."

Re: Big Storm brewing

There is also the possibility of snow in the north, generally over higher ground, so blizzards possible.

Also from Met office: 'Wet and very windy on Monday, with severe gales likely.'

Great start to the week...

Re: Big Storm brewing

Snow doesn't look to be much of an issue now apart from the mountains, but winds still look severe.

Re: Big Storm brewing

Funnily enough I saw the lunchtime weather report and the local forecaster uselessly hinted at a possible problem here on Monday but said only that - and that there would be updates nearer the time.

Grrrr if there's one thing I hate it's half a story! Will keep an eye on the met office webby (source of useful info!)

My fave thing is to be snuggled in bed with howling wind and torrential rain lashing at our french windows, makes you all cosy. Although I agree with tufftie about wildlife concerns, tho spose they're pretty adept at staying safe in inclement weather. I'm off to hospital for wasp venom jab on Monday so hope not too bad weather until after midday.

Re: Big Storm brewing

Met Office early warnings are out and the focus seems to have been shifted south.

Met Office: UK: severe weather warnings

Re: Big Storm brewing

It's funny you wouldnt know today that the weather is going to turn like that. At the moment the temperature is cool, but nice, and the sun is out and shining merrily. Gotta love the randomness of weather

Re: Big Storm brewing

Hi people,

Don't hold your breath, we've a weather centre less than 20 miles away, and they've yet to get it right, after the gales last time they cry wolf too often, 4 inches of rain in the next 24hrs, 6 inches of snow, flooding in the next 12 hrs, etc...etc...etc. unfortunately they'll get it right for once and no-one will take any notice.

Max.

P.S. Galanthus why do you need wasp venom, sounds serious.

Re: Big Storm brewing

How's today's weather with you guys? It's drizzly and windy down here so I've been out and made sure everything is secured for Monday. Can't do anything about our fence (it's already broken from last time - will look at getting it repaired after Monday). Met Office warning still stands for Monday - should be interesting!

Re: Big Storm brewing

Really dull here, it tried to rain earlier but came to nothing, a bit breezy too.

A lovely day to be sat in front of the box to watch the rugby and football!!

Wet and windy here with the occasional sunny spell but mostly rain and wind forecasted heavy snow up here but you people down south seem to be getting extremely high winds and torrential rain from Monday you have my sympathy batten down the hatches

Re: Big Storm brewing

There definitely won't be a hurricane! Oops, that's done it now.

I use one of the surfing forecasts (Magic Seaweed) and they give SW upto 45 mph during the early hours of Monday soon veering west and decreasing slightly during the day; but remaining strong for several days.
