Julie | Tried the bass night before last - and agree its ok I will eat it again - its just a shame that it can't be bought fresher than at the supermarket as I don't like that 'tinny' taste fish starts to develop after a day of two of hanging around.......... Will look for it whenever we are holidaying at the coast.
I cooked fillets following a recipe (whole fish had sold out) on a bed of spuds and a layer of lime slices (prefer lime to lemon any day) and rubbed olive oil, lemon pepper and fresh dill into each fillet. Didn't like the spuds - don't think they did it justice - will try cooking whole next time on its own in tin foil with a lot of lime slices again and rethink the veg accompanying! It was a lot nicer than trout which I find a bit slippery..........
So thanks everyone for the heads up on sea bass - I wouldn't have tried it without your incentive!
Pauline
PS Sorry - this is a stormy weather thread - its calm here this morning but I can see bad weather piling up in the west and expect it to be raining as per forecast by the time I go to work this aft ............. |

This is a lovely plaice if your ever in Dorset. The Riverside Restaurant - Welcome
And this is a fantastic fish mongers if you are ever near Lyme Regis. Legendary Fishmongers in West Dorset.
Back to the topic of the storm there's hardly any wind here today but it is raining quite steadily but hopefully that's the last of the wind for a wee while. |

A band of heavy rain begun just as I was finishing work half an hour ago - forecast says it will whip thro and go and tomorrow not as bad for the north west as first suggested a couple of days back - maybe I will get out
