We've had a few showers and its a bit windy here in S. Lancs today - but all the signs are for rough weather and high gales tonight.......... batten down the hatches, dustbins, fence panels and various neighbours nick-knacks!

Gust of 82mph at Capel Curig already, the strongest winds are expected to come later.

Re: Big Storm brewing

Strong winds here in Hampshire and the electric keeps flickering so I wouldn`t be shocked if it goes soon.I think we might be in for another restless night.

Re: Big Storm brewing

There's now very string gust of wind here and heavy rain and it's blowing in from the NW (because rain beating against window) which is unusual as it normally comes form the SW here.

Re: Big Storm brewing

Went to the Club just before 9pm and it was fairly calm. Left at 11:30-ish and the wind had picked up considerably.

Geeze, that was difficult to type correctly. I seem to have a moving keyboard.

Re: Big Storm brewing

They said on the local weather forecast that the south would cop it again tonight. It could be worse we could be in Selsea!! A boat would be the only option then.Hope the rest of your fence is okay.

Re: Big Storm brewing

The lights have been flickering here in Berkshire too, a couple of bulbs have blown as well, but I don't know if it's related?!
Although, I think we've got away lightly, the wind's not been as strong as other places but it's picking up a bit again now.

Just been out for a smoke and was getting pushed around by the wind - when it came to closing the door I really had to fight with it. Roll on another sleep-deprived night

Re: Big Storm brewing

I often wonder where you are Tuftie, tho day-dream-land does sound very appealing at times

If the lights do go out then so long as it's after I've gone to bed (soonish) I dont mind - it's not half as spooky that way

No - i'm still a scaredy cat even then!!!!

Re: Big Storm brewing

Its rough here in S. Lancs this morning - not looking forward to work - going to be a struggle getting round the hides this morning!

According to news 7 waggons over on the Thellwall which is only 'round the corner' from here and M6 now closed over that big bridge, glad I'm not due to go anywhere.............. lights have been flickering here too - maybe I should get in the shower now in case the electric goes off?

Re: Big Storm brewing

Well I'm relieved I'm not the only one that gets the jitters in the dark!!!

It's still very windy here but not as bad as in the early hours. However, it's now beautiful sunny morning

Hmmm wouldnt go so far as sunny here, but it's bright-ish.
However the wind is still very strong!
Wish it would go away - want my birdies back.

awww - I'm lucky here as the garden backs onto woodland and there's a hedge (sort of) down both sides of it...so the birds hide in there and then dart back and forth to the feeders for a quick nibble.

Re: Big Storm brewing

The wind blew one of my feeders off its pole - all the birds were sitting in the apple tree looking a bit miffed until I fixed it for them. The bullfinches don't mind the wind but the great and blue tits must be holed up somewhere.

Think the fun & games are over now for most of us, though maybe Norfolk will still be getting strong gusts until lunchtime.

Dunno about that - it's still pretty gusty here and the sun's gone Hope it keeps dry - doing some gardening for a friend later on
