Re: Big Storm brewing

Its gusting pretty well here, there is a big oak that lost 2 rather large branches onto a neighbours fence a couple of months ago. I hope this doesn't bring the crown on top of their house!

Re: Big Storm brewing

4:15 am in North Lincs and it's beginning to get rough with a moderate wind that's gusting.
Only a couple more hours though and I shall be hopefully home in bed with earplugs in so I manage to get some sleep before back at work at 1:30 pm

Pretty rough here, howling wind and rain. Cold too. Off to work, ugh!

Re: Big Storm brewing

6:05am a light sleep for me but not due to the wind! It's hardly blowing a storm here! Just gusty at times. I notice Galanthus went to bed unphased by it all!

Re: Big Storm brewing

Very strong gusts of wind, whole trees in motion, horizontal rain with the wind. Nice day.

Re: Big Storm brewing

The first part has blown over here and its quite pleasant out at the moment. There's been a few trees down overnight but the wind has gone for now.

Re: Big Storm brewing

7am this morning clear blue skies - 7:50am...

(Photo is aiming towards North wales)

Second stage started, South westerly pushing the cloud in bringing lots of rain but not as much wind as i expected. Same now at 8:30am, wind up slightly and the tide is extremely high and current temp 4.1*c.

Re: Big Storm brewing

The gusts and rain have picked up again within the last hour and there is one poor squirrel clinging to a food hopper..so at least one of them is okay

That might not last long.

It was like that at 7am here before the second part of the storm came.

Wind is up again and the rain is torrential here at the moment.

Re: Big Storm brewing

Woke me up too at about 4:30, hasn't been too bad though, just a few bits blown around on the patio. Think Wales and the South are in for some more later today.

Re: Big Storm brewing

Just swept the pond of loads of leaves, the fence is almost down (it was only just hanging on anyway) but the oddest thing is that the pond pump has stopped working This is a right royal pain in the butt coz I'm not well enough to go fishing around in the pond water (am likely to fall in) and my other half has just left for work - he wont be back til Friday! Arrghhhhhh!

There's a great tit on the feeders tho so at least he/she survived the first wave - something to smile about

Re: Big Storm brewing

If the Weathers like this for the rest of the week i'd imagine your pond should do quite ok without the need of the pump until hubby gets back to have a look at it. Hope he manages to fix it alright?!

Re: Big Storm brewing

Yeah hopefully Jez Think the heavy rain is aerating the water nicely at the moment and the fish aren't too active anyway - it's too cold.

Barometers very low at 952mb (28inches). We had a bit of sun a few minutes ago, but its fast disappearing. Might as well get the ironing done, I suppose.

Re: Big Storm brewing

erm this is getting scary now - the wind is so fierce it nearly had me over. The fence is about to go, the gusts are amazingly strong and I can hear sirens nearby so something bad has probably happened

Any hugs for sale?

friends of ours at the hospital this morning said their barometer was as low as was poss to get, virtually off the scale.

Scarey last night and like others here no sleep due to hail, rain and wind, however, sunny now with rain. Really torrential about an hour ago.
