Re: Big Storm brewing

Still quiet here, a gentle steady wind blowing, no rain yet.
Local weather reckons it will hit us during the night. Will let you know tomorrow.
Unless we have been blown away in our little wooden house to the Land of Oz!

No, it's all calm here too but icy and that's from somebody that dosn't feel the cold!! There was a beautiful slither of a moon though and a very distant looking Orion.

Re: Big Storm brewing

All calm and clear here too - 992 millibars and 7.7 degrees C.

Prediction is for average wind speeds of between 30 and 35 mph - be interesting to see what the top speed is.

OOh just watched the start of the news and looks like we are going to cop it.
Will go down to the beach and take a look in the morning, better wear a hard when I walk to work tomorrow.
Just hope all the birds find safe places to hide.

Re: Big Storm brewing

Quite calm where we are, but bitterly cold. The satellite pictures are quite scary.

Re: Big Storm brewing

Starting to get a little breezy here. The rain has just started. It has been a quite nice day. Mostly sunshine and a gentle breeze.

Re: Big Storm brewing

It's odd, but is it weather-related: there are 1 or more birds singing at the moment... I don't think I have ever heard birds singing at this time of night!

Re: Big Storm brewing

According to what i read its all gonna kick off at midnight...which is erm..now!

have already moved my car to the road away from the stupidly high and dangerous sycamores on the national trust land next to our drive!

I was out on the marshes doing a marsh harrier roost count at about 5- 6pm and the sky was jet black and bitterly cold but as far as wind it was very calm...rained hard for half hour on way home then stopped....

Impressive that last satellite pic though !

12:15 am and all is calm and peaceful. I have just poked head out of window and not even a slight breeze.

Well the wind has definitely picked up here - can hear it whistling outside and it has a bit of strength to it. Wonder what the morning will bring

Re: Big Storm brewing

Yep really gaining strength now - ! Howling through the trees not to mention the beginnings of a rather ominous whistling sound (just stuck my head out of the window) and they are swaying about quite a bit too...and the arbour is at 45degrees - think it maybe down in the morning Going to be fun in a strange kinda way. Shall snuggle up in bed and listen to it while i daydream

Re: Big Storm brewing

It's 2 am and it's pretty quiet in North Lincolnshire at the moment, just a light wind blowing.

Hope everyone further down south, Wales in particular is ok.
