I'm quite disappointed - I'm studying earthquakes as part of my course at the moment and would love to have felt it

| | | Re: Er ! Earthquake ! It woke me up at about 1am, to be honest I thought it someone was under the bed shaking it, you could even hear the mattress springs "pinging". Dogs didn't bark so my second thought was that it was either a poltergeist or I must have been dreaming, even when I thought I was awake. A very weird feeling indeed, only lasted about 10 secs then stopped, but a few seconds later there was this funny vibration and then gone. Opted for the dreaming scenario until I saw the news - why didn't I think of an earthquake! Bit scary but no damage done.

I'm in Lancs but not that far from Manchester really and didn't feel a thing. My other half was still up at the time but he didn't feel anything either. Everyone around us felt it, even the other kids at my children's school. How annoying that I missed it.

One heck of a rumbling noise, all the bits and pieces on the bedroom dresser or whatever you call it where rattling. The bed shaking, thought the whole place was going to collapse the dogs started howling. Something I wouldn't want to experience again.
Pleased to say though no actual damage done as far as we can see.

Roger | Much the same here Roger. I woke wondering what the heck was going on. At first I thought our roof had collapsed. After checking all rooms, the loft and outside It finally dawned on me it could have been a quake.
I'm please to hear no damage done at your end, I was concerned as your so close. |

jaki | Same here. We were the only ones that seemed to notice! How anyone could sleep through that is beyond me..There again, I was only half a sleep, just about gone when it happened. My daughter who lives only a couple of miles from us also slept thought it. |

| | | Re: Er ! Earthquake ! Just to add to what I wrote in an earlier post, my son who lives in the area went outside straight away as the shaking was still happening then when it finished he said it was spooky for a little while, you could have heard a pin drop, then all hell broke loose, the birds started up as one, Rabbits came out of their burrows and were running about madly, everything came to life again by either being petrified or relieved it was all over, he said the strange thing was though and we noticed it here that there were no car alarms going off, yet most night we can hear one in the distance somewhere | | | | |
